I've known for decades about how a 50 mm lens on a 35 mm format camera approximates the field of view of the human eye.
It may approximate the human eye optically, but it doesn't approximate perception. I've met people who perceive in wide-angle, perhaps around 18 mm, taking in a wider view but not necessarily concerned with the details. And I've met people that perceive in telephoto, preferring to look at the minute details of a narrow field of view.
Probably the majority of us have a certain span of zoom capability, to take in a broad view, but have the ability to zoom in on, and have an interest in, the details. |

One of the great things about this recent trip to Utah was that I was able to fly in my dad's airplane to see some of my favorite places.

Colorado River, east of Moab Utah.

Yeah, I've taken and posted a lot of photos Delicate arch in the past. Photos and depictions of this arch are everywhere, including on the wall inside the motel room. I wouldn't have even visited the arch on this trip if it wasn't for the fact that my dad had never seen it in person. And, funny enough, I think this may end up being my favorite photo I've ever captured of it.

( For size perspective, my dad's not a midget )
